Hand Rankings, Explained Simply

Only three cards per hand, so the rankings are short. Strongest first:

  1. Trail (trio), three of the same rank, like three kings, three aces is the game’s best hand.
  2. Pure sequence, a suited run such as 7-8-9 of spades: three in sequence, all the same suit.
  3. Sequence, three consecutive cards of mixed suits, like 7 of hearts, 8 of clubs, 9 of spades.
  4. Color (flush), three cards of the same suit that are not in sequence, like three spades of scattered ranks.
  5. Pair, two of the same rank, like two queens, the third card breaks ties.
  6. High card, none of the above. Your highest card decides, then the next-highest if needed.

Memorise that order and you know more than most first-timers. Note: tie-break rules can vary slightly, glance at the table rules first.

How Online Tables Work

Online tables follow your home game’s rhythm, just faster:

  • Pick your table. Tables list a boot amount, the minimum stake per hand. Beginners: always pick the lowest.
  • The boot goes in. Every player contributes the boot, so there is always a pot to play for.
  • Cards are dealt. You get three cards face down, then choose: play seen (after looking) or blind (without looking). Blind stakes less per round, but you are flying blind.
  • The betting moves around the table. On your turn, chaal (bet to stay in) or pack (fold). Seen players stake more than blind players.
  • Showdown. With two players left, either can ask for a show, hands revealed, stronger ranking wins. Sometimes a player packs instead, and the last one standing takes the pot.
  • Side show. Between rounds, a seen player can request a private comparison with the previous player.

Watch a few hands first, ten minutes of observing teaches the flow better than any explanation.

Starting at Low Stakes

The golden rule: make your mistakes cheap.

  • Live at the lowest boot tables. Your first week’s goal is not winning, it is learning the feel of betting rounds.
  • Play tight at first. Pack mediocre hands without regret, beginners lose most by staying in too long.
  • Try blind play in small doses. Betting blind is cheaper and teaches table-reading, but keep those stakes tiny.
  • Set a session budget. Decide your maximum beforehand and stop when it is gone, the cards will be there tomorrow.
  • Do not chase losses. Lost three in a row? Normal variance. Raising stakes to “get it back” turns bad evenings terrible.

Teen Patti ID, FAQs

What is the best hand in Teen Patti?

A trail, three of a kind. Three aces is the highest possible hand, followed by three kings, and so on down.

What do “blind” and “seen” mean?

Blind = betting without looking at your cards; seen = after looking. Blind players stake less per round.

How much money do I need to start?

Very little, low-stake tables keep the boot amount tiny. Start at the lowest table and treat early sessions as practice.

Is Teen Patti luck or skill?

Both, the cards are luck, but when to chaal, pack, or ask for a show is skill. Beginners should focus on discipline.
